Men's Basketball to Host SEMO on Saturday

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The men's basketball team returns home Saturday for its first game at SIU Arena since beating Indiana on Dec. 1. The Salukis have played seven of their first 10 games away from home this season and have compiled an 8-2 record.
The athletic department is offering a holiday ticket special for the SEMO game. Lower bowl endzone tickets are just five dollars.

The Series With SEMO: Southeast Missouri State is the Salukis' oldest rival, with games dating back to the 1913-14 season. The teams have met 107 times and SIU holds a 62-45 advantage.
Salukis Versus the Ohio Valley: Southern Illinois has a 160-124 all-time record versus the nine current members of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Salukis will play another OVC school, Murray State, next Saturday.
Dawg Bites: SIU's 18-point loss to Colorado State was the worst since last year's 22-point loss at Indiana...Against CSU, Kent Williams was held to a season-low eight points, breaking a string of 22 straight games in double figures...The Rams became the first team to shoot better than 45 percent against the Salukis this season. They shot 49.1 percent.
National Rankings: Southern Illinois is close to gaining recognition in the Top 25. The Salukis are 27th in the AP Poll and 31st in the Coaches Poll. The only time SIU has been ranked was during a three-week span in late Nov./early Dec. in 1976. SIU rose as high as #18.
Williams 20th in Career Scoring at SIU: Earlier this season, junior guard Kent Williams became the 34th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. He now ranks 20th in career scoring at SIU with 1,142 points.
