SIU Baseball Falls to Northwestern State

Natchitoches, La. - Southern Illinois University Carbondale?s (3-5) three game winning streak came to an end in a 4-0 loss to Northwestern State University (9-3) on Saturday, February 24, at Brown-Stroud Field.
Northwestern State pitcher O.J. King (3-0) threw a one-hit shutout against the Salukis, striking out seven and walking three in the complete game victory.
Northwestern State scored all four of its runs in the third inning. SIU had runners on second and third in the eighth but couldn't score a run. Tommy Cigno's pinch hit single in the eighth broke up the no hitter and was the lone SIU hit.
Billy Hardin (0-3) threw seven innings for the Salukis, striking out seven, walking two, and allowing three earned runs in the loss.
SIU will finish play at the Northwestern State University tournament on Sunday, February 25, against Centenary College at 11:00 a.m.
