Tatum, Sweere named Regions Bank Scholar-Athletes of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University junior Jamaal Tatum and sophomore Jayme Sweere are this week's Regions Bank Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
With the Salukis clinging to a two-point lead with nine minutes remaining in the game, Tatum scored 13-straight points to lift SIU to a 64-54 win over Central Michigan Sunday.
Tatum finished with a game-high 26 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from 3-point range. He also made 9-of-11 free throws, dished out two assists and had three steals, as SIU held CMU without a field goal in the final 3:55 of the game. Tatum has a 3.86 GPA as a speech communications major.
Sweere, who hails from Springfield, Mo., scored 10 points and dished out a career-high eight assists against Big 12 Conference foe Missouri. She shot 5-of-13 from the field, as the 10-point effort marked her sixth time scoring in double figures this season. Sweere carries a 3.80 GPA in radio/TV.
