SAAC completes second-annual Santa's Shoebox project

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Student-Athlete Advisory Council wrapped up their second-annual Santa's Shoebox project on Tuesday with a Christmas party at SIUC Headstart.
Members of the SAAC and student services staff raised over $900.00 to fill 170 shoeboxes with Christmas gifts for children who attend Head Start.
Student Services staff, coaches and student-athletes visited the children early in the week to distribute the gifts.
"It was another successful event in its second year," Kristina Therriault of Student Services said."We look forward to continuing this program. It's a great time for the children and our student-athletes who enjoy spending time with them. This is one of our favorite events to do and one that our student-athletes look most forward to. To see the smiles on the children faces is worth every penny."
