Five of Six Are In
Five teams, including Wichita State, Evansville, Missouri State, Creighton and Bradley have punched their tickets to the 2006 ConAgra Foods Missouri Valley Conference Tournament (May 24-27). SIU and Illinois State will fight for the last spot in in the final week of conference play. If SIU wins one game against ILS, the Salukis are in. If ILS sweeps SIU, the Redbirds are in.
What's at Stake
SIU is looking to make its fifth-straight trip to the ConAgra Foods MVC Tournament under head coach Dan Callahan. ILS is looking to make its first trip to the league's postseason tournament since 2001. The Redbirds have not made an MVC Tournament appearance under head coach Jim Brownlee. In fact, the last time ILS made the tournament, Brownlee was Evansville's head coach. Both the Salukis and Redbirds were swept a week ago.
