KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The offensive woes for Southern Illinois continued and perhaps hit a new low Tuesday, as the Salukis were beaten by Western Michigan, 57-41. The 41 points were the fewest by a Saluki team in more than 21 years and the third-fewest in the modern era.
Joshua Bone hit a 3-pointer for the Salukis (4-5) just 11 seconds into the game, but Southern didn't score again until Bryan Mullins hit a lay up more than eight minutes later. SIU trailed, 27-16, at halftime.
The second half was slightly better, as Southern Illinois added 25 points to its total, but for the game, the Salukis shot just 27 percent.
No player scored in double figures for SIU.
