2007-08 Non-Conference Schedule
CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University head coach Dana Eikenberg announced the Salukis' non-conference schedule for the 2007-08 season Monday.
The defending Missouri Valley Conference regular season champions will play five of their 10 non-conference games at SIU Arena.
For the third-straight season, the Salukis will open at home November 10. SIU will play host to DePaul for the season-opener following two exhibition games against Harris Stowe (Nov. 1) and Lambuth (Nov. 4), the 2007 NAIA National Champions.
That matchup is part of a 10-game, non-conference slate which features teams from the Big Ten, Big East, Ohio Valley, Sun Belt, Mid-Continent, Southland and Atlantic 10 Conferences.
The most reputable of SIU's non-conference opponents are Atlantic 10 member George Washington and Big Ten foe Illinois. The Salukis will face both teams on the road, taking on the Colonials, ranked 11th at the end of the 2006-07 season, at the George Washington Thanksgiving Tournament Nov. 23-24, while the Fighting Illini host the Dawgs on Nov. 18. This will be the first meeting since the 1996-97 season for in-state rival Illinois.
SIU also faces Christian Brothers (Nov. 12), Central Arkansas (Dec. 8), Chicago State (Dec. 17) and Wisconsin-Green Bay (Dec. 29) at home, and Austin Peay (Nov. 28), Tennessee Tech (Dec. 21) and possibly Western Kentucky (Nov. 23-24 at G.W. Tournament) on the road.
