Women's basketball opens Junkanoo Jam on Friday

FREEPORT, Bahamas - The Southern Illinois women's basketball team (2-0) opens the 2008 Junkanoo Jam tournament against Florida (4-1) at 12:30 p.m. ET at St. George High School in Freeport, Bahamas.
This is SIU's first time playing in the Junkanoo Jam, which includes a total of eight teams from all across the country. Southern Illinois is paired with Florida, No. 19 Arizona State and Hofstra in the Lucaya bracket.
The Salukis face the Gators for the first time in the program's history, and enter the contest with a two-game winning streak.
SIU downed Saint Louis, and Arkansas State at home to open the season, while Florida enters on a four game winning streak, including a win last Monday against No. 21-ranked Florida State on the road.
Friday's game can be heard live on the Saluki Radio Network on 810 AM, with Patrick Erickson and Julie Beck delivering the play-by-play and color commentating. The game can also be viewed for a small fee via the Basketball Travelers link below.
Southern Illinois will conclude the Junkanoo Jam on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET or 2:45 p.m. ET against either Hofstra or Arizona State, depending on Friday's outcome.
