Men's Swimming ranked No. 8 among mid-majors

SOMERS, Wis - The Southern Illinois men's swimming and diving team is ranked No. 8 in the latest CSCAA/CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Division I Poll that was released Monday.
Southern Illinois also received three votes in the Top 25 poll that includes all Division I teams.
The Salukis, who were previously unranked, moved up into the mid-major rankings after their strong showing at the USA Senior Nationals, Dec. 2-4. The national championships brings in the nation's top collegiate, club and Olympic swimmers and Southern Illinois collectively took eighth out of 12 teams.
SIU had three relay teams finish in the Top 20 (50 free relay - 15th place; 50 and 100 medley relay - 17th place) and freshman Csaba Gercsak finished 19th against 45 competitors in the 200 back.
Now off for the holiday break, the Salukis return to team competition on Jan. 7, traveling to St. Louis, Mo. to take on Washington and Lindenwood.
