CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois volleyball team dropped a match 3-0 to Evansville on Saturday night at Davies Gym. The Salukis split a pair of MVC matches on the weekend after beating Indiana State on Friday night.Â
Coming off its first MVC win of the season, Southern Illinois (5-22, 1-13 MVC) got within a point twice in the first set against UE. Down 10-4 early, the Salukis rallied to get within 12-11, but the Aces (9-19, 3-12 MVC) responded with an 11-5 run to take command.
Southern's best defensive effort came in the second set, holding Evansville to .149 hitting percentage. After piling up 14 blocks in last night's win vs. Indiana State, the Salukis out-blocked Indiana State 7-3 on Saturday.Â
Lindsey Paulsen hit .500 and led SIU with six kills. Patience Brown had five kills for SIU, and Alayna Martin had 19 assists and eight digs.Â
Southern is back in action at Drake on Friday, November 9.Â
