NABC Release
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Southern Illinois guard Marcus Bartley was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court, the organization announced Tuesday. Bartley holds a perfect 4.0 GPA in sport administration.Â
Bartley led Southern Illinois with 90 assists, despite missing the first six games of the season with a broken wrist. He returned in December and played in 26 games, including 22 starts. The Saint Louis transfer and Decatur, Illinois native averaged 6.7 points and ranked second on the team in 3-point shooting percentage at .383. In two games against Northern Iowa, he went 8-for-11 from outside the arc.
The award recognizes men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the previous season. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a junior or senior, hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2, and have completed at least one year at their current institution.
After the 2017-18 season, Bartley earned third-team Academic All-America honors, becoming the first SIU player to become an Academic All-American since Bryan Mullins in 2009.Â
