Five things to know about Bryan Mullins

Bryan is considered by many to be the best point guard in Saluki history. He is the school leader in assists and steals per game, and was a two-time MVC Defensive Player of the Year. He played professionally in France for four years after graduating from SIU in 2009.

Bryan majored in Finance at Southern Illinois and had a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was a two-time Academic All-American, the 2009 MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and 2009 Dr. Charlotte West Scholar-Athlete award winner.Â

He has an older brother, Brendan, who is an assistant coach for Illinois State. Brendan Mullins played collegiately for Division II Saint Michael's College, where he was one of the most prolific 3-point shooters in school history.

Bryan's dad, Mike Mullins, founded the Illinois Wolves AAU basketball program in 1999, which has produced elite college talent and more than 300 college players.

At age 32, Mullins is one year older than Harry Gallatin (31) and Chris Lowery (31) were on the day they were named head coach at SIU, and the same age as Matt Painter (32) was at the time he became head coach at Southern.
