Scesniak earns MVC All-Freshman Team

ST. LOUIS, Missouri -- The Missouri Valley Conference has announced Saluki freshman, Ashley Scesniak, a member of the MVC All-Freshman team, marking the first All-Freshman nomination for the program since it's beginning in 2019.
The midfielder, hailing from Hoffman Estates, Illinois, finished her inaugural season in Maroon totaling 1,306 game minutes. Scesniak tied for third on the squad with 15 shots, eight shots-on-goal, averaging .94 shots a match in 2021.
Starting 14 games and seeing action in all 16 this year, she scored her first set of points and was the lone freshman to score a goal in 2021 -- a corner kick over the keeper's hands at home against Kansas City on August 27.
Scesniak, who played the field but attacked in the box often, shot a career-high four times at Lipscomb, with two coming on-goal. She posted a .533 shots-on-goal average and landed second in game minutes on the SIU squad.

The second round of the MVC Women's Soccer Tournament begins Friday, November 5 in Chicago where No. 5 Evansville will take on No. 2 Valparaiso at 3pm, and No. 1 Loyola will kickoff against No. 5 Drake at 6pm.
