CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team maintained a one-game lead in the Missouri Valley Conference standings Thursday night, winning 63-46 over the Indiana State Sycamores. The Salukis (18-7, 13-2) currently lead Missouri State by one game and Illinois State by two games.
"We're just wanting to enjoy every victory and not take it for granted," said head coach Cindy Stein. "We want to stay humble and we want to make sure we stay focused."
The Salukis led for over 36 minutes in the game, and pulled away in earnest in the second half. Southern scored 21 points and shot 8-of-14 (57.1%) from the field in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
