CARBONDALE, Ill. – The 15th head coach in the history of Saluki men's basketball was introduced to the public Friday afternoon in the Charles Helleny Pavilion as Saluki fans, administrators, and supporters gathered to welcome Scott Nagy to Southern Illinois.
The event was hosted by the "Voice of the Salukis" Luke Martin and featured SIU Chancellor Austin A. Lane, Director of Athletics Tim Leonard as well as Nagy who spoke briefly to the gathered crowd before a Q&A session to wrap up the event.
"I'm very thrilled to be here and to be involved in a program with such a rich history and great support not only from the administrative side but the fan side," Nagy said. "It makes it fun for the coaches and for the players as well. We're just excited to get going. We've got a lot of work to do."
Nagy will work to put together a coaching staff and speak with student-athletes from the 2023-24 team in the coming days before looking to fill roster spots.
