ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball lost in five sets to Lindenwood Friday at the Lindenwood Invitational.
The Salukis (5-3) took a 2-1 lead after three, but Lindenwood (3-4) used a late run in the fourth set to send the match to a winner-take-all set five, where they never trailed.
Annabelle Sulish put down a career-high 22 kills and her fifth double-double of the season. Larissa Seger tied her collegiate high with 13 kills.
The Salukis and Lions battled back and forth in the first set, and after the match was sent to deuces, clutch kills from Eva Krakowski and Sulish gave SIU the set win.
Lindenwood never relinquished its early lead in set two, stretching the lead as high as nine.
Set three was close throughout, and a late 6-1 run by SIU provided enough cushion to win the set 25-23. Sulish had seven kills in the frame.
Southern held a tight 19-18 lead late in set four, but could only muster one more point and Lindenwood forced a fifth set, one they never trailed in.
The loss ends SIU's undefeated streak in five-set matches, having won the previous three in 2024.
