CARBONDALE, Ill. — Saluki Basketball is back — and for one night only, it's free to attend.
The SIU men's basketball team will host Austin Peay in an exhibition game at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Banterra Center.
Admission and parking are free, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans are invited to get an early look at the 2025-26 Salukis.
"This is a great opportunity for fans to bring energy to Banterra Center," head coach Scott Nagy said. "We need Saluki Nation and the Dawg Pound in the stands — not just for this game, but all season long. When this place is full and loud, it gives our guys a real edge."
The Salukis return six players from last season's roster: Damien Mayo Jr., Jaheem Webber, Drew Steffe, Jorge Moreno, Rolyns Aligbe and Davion Sykes. Newcomers include Isaiah Stafford, Jalen Haynes, Prince Aligbe, Max Pikaar, Quel'Ron House, Daniel Pauliukonis, Luke Walsh and Caden Hawkins.
"This is a fun group of guys, and we expect to play an exciting brand of basketball," Nagy said.
Austin Peay finished the 2024–25 season with a 14–19 record, including an 8–10 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Governors return 6-foot-8 sophomore Tate McCubbin, who led the team in rebounds (146) and ranked fourth in scoring with 10.6 points per game.
Season tickets are on sale now starting at $99. Visit saluk.is/MBBTickets for more information. Single-game tickets will be available soon. For ticket inquiries, call 618-453-2000.
