ST. LOUIS – Southern Illinois guards Kennard Davis Jr. and Ali Dibba earned spots on the Missouri Valley Conference All-Conference Teams; the League office announced Wednesday. Davis was named a Second Team selection while Dibba was named Third Team.
Davis has put together a breakout season for the Salukis, leading the team and ranking fourth in the MVC in scoring with 16.3 points per game. The sophomore also averages 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Davis also leads the Salukis in 3-point percentage (36.9), minutes (33.9), and free throw percentage (76.3). The St. Louis native has scored 20 or more nine times this season and has recorded four double doubles. Davis has scored 19 or more in his last four games and put up a season-high 26 against Murray State.
A Stockholm, Sweden native, Dibba has been SIU's top scorer in his first season with the team putting up 16.8 points per game; also ranking third in the MVC in scoring. Dibba has put up 10 or more points in 28 games this season with a season-high 33 coming on the road at Belmont. He leads the MVC and ranks 31st nationally in field goals made with 201. To go with his scoring, the senior transfer is averaging 4.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.52 steals per game. His 47 steals this season rank third in the MVC.
Davis was also named to the Missouri Valley Conference Most Improved Team on Tuesday.
