Salukis head to the road with Seven-Game winning streak

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Southern Illinois women's soccer will look to extend its program-record winning streak to eight matches when the Salukis travel to Belmont on Saturday.
Southern enters the match with an 8-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play after defeating Murray State 2-1 on Saturday. The Salukis have won seven consecutive matches, extending the program record.
Senior Nao Katamoto played a key role in the latest victory, scoring twice in the comeback win over Murray State. After the Racers took an early lead, Katamoto converted a penalty kick in the 22nd minute before scoring again in the 29th minute to give Southern a 2-1 lead. Maya Dixon and Dana Nadda assisted on the second goal.
BELMONT
Belmont enters Saturday's matchup with a 2-4-4 overall record and a 1-1-0 mark in MVC play. The Bruins are coming off a 1-0 loss at Northern Iowa on Sept. 27.
Belmont has been unbeaten in its last 12 matches at Rose Park and owns a 2-0-2 record at home this season. The Bruins opened MVC play with a 5-2 victory over UIC on Sept. 20.

Preseason Honors
Southern Illinois was selected fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll with 59 points. Junior Guliana Balistreri earned a spot on the preseason all-conference team.
Brooke Gosse received MVC Player of the Week recognition Aug. 18 after scoring twice against Western Illinois. Penny Warner also earned the weekly award following her hat trick in Southern's program-record 8-0 victory over Alabama A&M.
Reagan Miller was named MVC Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 15 after recording two shutouts and helping the Salukis extend their winning streak to five matches. The honor marked her third career MVC Goalkeeper of the Week selection.
Maya Dixon was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week following her two-goal performance in Southern Illinois' 2-1 victory over Evansville on Sept. 19. Dixon scored twice in the opening 26 minutes, with both goals assisted by Victoria Hassan.
