Herron Set to Begin Run at Women’s NCAA Championships

CARBONDALE, Ill. – For a second straight season, Southern Illinois swim and dive's Olivia Herron will represent the Salukis at the Women's NCAA Championships as she competes in three events between Thursday and Saturday in Atlanta.

Herron's Season
Herron is coming off another fantastic season in Carbondale. The senior out of Manchester, England, ended the season with four golds at the Missouri Valley Championships, winning the 200-breast (2:11.01), 200-butterfly (1:59.75), 200-IM (1:58.31), while also being a part of the first-place 400-medley relay team (3:37.11). Throughout the year, Herron collected five MVC Women's Swimmer of the Week awards on her way to being named the MVC Women's Swimmer of the Year following the MVC Championships. Additionally, Herron was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team and was All-MVC First Team.
Running It Back
This will be Herron second straight trip to the Women's NCAA Championships. Last year, Herron competed in the same three events she will this weekend (100-breaststroke, 200-breaststroke, 200-IM), and she walked away with a Second-Team All-American title in the 200-breaststroke.
Events and Schedule
This year, Herron will compete in the 100-breaststroke, 200-breaststroke, and 200-IM. The 100-breaststroke takes place on Thursday, March 19, the 200-breaststroke on Friday, March 20, and the 200-IM occurs on the final day of the Championships, Saturday, March 21. Prelims everyday are set at 9 a.m. CST while finals begin at 5 p.m. CST.
