Men’s Basketball Earns NABC Team Academic Excellence Award; Four Salukis Named to Honors Court

CARBONDALE, Ill. – On Wednesday, the National Association of Basketball Coaches named their 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Awards and Honors Court. Southern Illinois men's basketball was named a recipient of the team award while four Salukis found their way onto the Honors Court: Caden Hawkins, Damien Mayo Jr., Davion Sykes, and Isaiah Stafford.
To earn the Team Academic Excellence Award, a program must have completed the 2025-26 academic year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. As for the Honors Court, players had to have finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher while being a junior, senior, or graduate student. This year, over 2,300 athletes across all levels of college basketball were named to the Honors Court while 400 programs received the team award.
