Volleyball Adds Three to Impressive Recruiting Class

CARBONDALE, Ill. — SIU volleyball coach Brittany Harry announced Friday the signing of two student-athletes, Lillian Dempkey, Dafne Sosa, and Una Stepic.

Lillian Dempkey is a freshman setter from Burlington, Wisconsin. She plans to study biomedical engineering. Dempkey was a decorated high school player, earning numerous awards, including:

2025 WI D1 SLC All-Conference Player of the Year
2025 Racine County All-County Player of the Year
2025 Racine Journal Times Player of the Year
2024 & 2025 WI D1 All-Conference First Team
2024 & 2025 WI D1 All-County First Team
2023-25 WI D1 All-State Honorable Mention

"We are so excited to add Lilly to our roster for this spring. We got to watch her play a good bit in spring of 2025, and she was an absolute workhorse for her club team," Harry said. "She is a very high-IQ setter with an incredible work ethic both on the court and in the classroom, which is exactly what we look for in all our recruits. She will add depth at setter and compete for playing time right away."

Dafne Sosa is a 5-foot-5 junior defensive specialist from Las Vegas, Nevada. She previously played at Ranger College in Texas. There, she was:

Two-year NJCAA Captain
Two-time Second Team All-Conference
Academic All-Conference
Two-time NJCAA Region 5 Player of the Week

"Dafne comes to us from Ranger College after playing juco for two years for coach Nicole Smith," Harry said. "Dafne is one of those DS/liberos that just go! Her energy and grittiness are contagious on the court, and she is a force to be reckoned with in the back row. We are excited to add her to our Dawg fam."

Una Stepic is a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Krusevac, Serbia. She comes to SIU by way of Eastern Wyoming College, where she was:

Two-time Second All-Region IX Team
All Regional Tournament Team, Freshmen Year
All-Academic Conference Team

"I am very excited to add Una to our Dawg family here at SIU. She carried a pretty significant offensive load for her JUCO so we know she is going to provide some much-needed depth in our pin positions, and we are glad she will be with us in Carbondale," Harry said.

Dempkey, Sosa, and Stepic join recent transfers Ida Almkvist, Chloe Anderson, Carlota Mora and Valentina Zevallos in this year's recruiting class.
