CORALVILLE, Iowa - The Saluki Women's Volleyball team was looking to get back in the win column against Southland conference member Incarnate Word. However, the match was all Cardinals as they swept the Salukis on Friday morning at Xtream Arena.

The Salukis were eyeing a victory over the Incarnate Word Cardinals Friday morning, coming off a loss against Iowa. However, the Dawgs started slow, and the Cardinals took full advantage of the slow start. There's a lot to take away and learn from this match for Southern.

Both teams had a slow start in the first set. Despite the exhaustion on both sides, the set was fairly close up until the end. Both teams wanted to win - and you could tell. It was ultimately the Cardinals that took the first set, thanks to a four-point set-ending run. A kill by Kitana Tuufuli wrapped up set one with a final score of 25-18.

The second set was not kind to the Salukis. The Cardinals looked refreshed after a victory in the first set. They ended the set on a 14-6 run, giving Southern no chance to bounce back after trailing early in the set. The story of the set was errors. Both service and attack errors plagued both teams, but the Salukis felt it harder than Incarnate Word. The final point of the set came off a Saluki service error, giving the Cardinals the 25-14 victory in the set.

The third and final set was also not the brightest for the Dawgs. They had a much better start to the set and it was visible that they didn't want defeat, let alone to get swept. They jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Incarnate Word stormed back. At the technical timeout, the Cardinals were up four points and wanted to put the match away. They ended up topping the Dawgs in the set, with the set ending on another kill by Kitana Tuufuli. The Cardinals took the set 25-19, the closest set in the match.
