Former Saluki swimming coach Tim Hill named ASCA Hall of Fame

Hill will be honored alongside coach Dave Gibson during the ASCA Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Sept. 10 at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida, as part of the 2026 ASCA World Clinic.
Hill spent five seasons at Southern Illinois University from 1980 to 1985 before becoming the head coach at Arizona State University, where he coached from 1985 to 1999. Across his more than four decades in coaching, Hill has achieved success at the club, collegiate, national and international levels.
During his collegiate coaching career, Hill led teams to multiple Top 10 finishes at the NCAA Division I Women's Championships. His athletes included 50 swimmers who earned more than 140 All-American honors, as well as 34 Academic All-America distinctions. His swimmers also included several NCAA Division I champions, including the first woman to break the one-minute barrier in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Hill has also coached multiple Olympians and World Championship medalists and has served as a coach on several USA Swimming National Team staffs.
At the club level, Hill has directed programs including the Sarasota Y Sharks, Joliet YMCA Jets, First Colony Swim Team, Tidewater Aquatics Club, Piranhas Swim Team and Sharks Swim Club. Throughout his career, he has helped develop Junior National qualifiers, National Champions and Olympians. He also guided two women's 24-hour relay teams to world-record performances and has been recognized multiple times as Coach of the Year at the state, collegiate and national levels.
Beyond coaching, Hill has contributed to the swimming community through leadership and education. He has served on the ASCA Board of Directors since 2022 and has been involved with college, local LSC and YMCA national boards. He has also contributed to coach education through his Quantum Leap Swim Clinics, published numerous articles and presented at national and international coaching forums.
Hill's contributions to Southern Illinois have also been recognized by the university. He was inducted into the Saluki Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 1997.

We are honored to recognize their extraordinary careers with induction into the ASCA Hall of Fame."
The 2026 ASCA World Clinic will take place Sept. 9-12 in Orlando and will bring together coaches from around the world for education, networking and celebration of the sport. The Hall of Fame ceremony will highlight the event as Hill and Gibson are formally inducted into the ASCA Hall of Fame.
