Colton Susen began his first season with the Saluki Men’s Basketball team during the 2022-23 school year. Susen comes to SIU with a specialty in all aspects of basketball performance with an extensive background in strength and conditioning, nutrition, and sport science application.
Susen most recently joins the program from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. He was the first full-time Director of Basketball Performance at the university, working with Men’s and Women’s basketball in all facets of the sport.
Before his stint as the Director of Basketball performance at SIUE, he was a graduate assistant in the same program, spending a total of four years at the university.
Prior to SIUE, Susen served as an intern strength and conditioning coach for the University of Wisconsin and the University of Michigan, working exclusively with the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
A 2017 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Susen holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise sport science with an emphasis in coaching competitive athletics. He obtained his master’s degree in exercise physiology shortly after.
Susen is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Performance and Sport Scientist through the NSCA. He holds certifications in Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR), is a certified basketball speed specialist (CBSS), Primal Reflexive Reset (PRRT) technique, a Certified Sport Nutrition (CSNC), Signal 6 and is a United States Weightlifting Coach (USAW).
