Riley Hoistad joined the Saluki Men's Basketball staff as athletic trainer in the summer of 2018 and was promoted to assistant AD for sports medicine in 2024. He came to Carbondale from Texas A&M and has worked with Alabama football, South Dakota State athletics, and the Green Bay Packers.
A certified athletic trainer, Hoistad earned the Jim Emmerich athletic training scholarship and John Crompton scholarship. He was a two-time Dean's List honoree and earned a spot as vice president of ATSA. He holds certifications for CPR, First Aid, AED, functional integrated dry needling and blood flow restrictions.
Hoistad, a South Dakota native, earned his bachelor's degree in athletic training with a minor in health science from South Dakota State in 2015. He earned his master's degree from Texas A&M in 2018.
He earned internships with Alabama football (summer 2014) and the Green Bay Packers (2015-16), and his volunteer work includes the Special Olympics, Brookings Invitational wrestling tournament, Daktronics Open, and Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational.
