PRIOR TO SIU
A standout sprint freestyler from Littleton, Colo., Will Chavez was ranked as the No. 6 senior swimmer in Colorado by CollegeSwimming.com's Recruit Rankings. Chavez qualified for the state meet in each of his four seasons at Mullen High School. He burst onto the scene as a freshman, as he helped Mullen to a ninth-place finish in the 200 free relay and qualified individually in both the 50 and 100 free. The following season, Chavez tallied four top-five finishes at the state meet, which included a state title in the 400 free relay. He also added a runner-up finish in the 200 free relay and fifth place finishes in both the 50- and 100 free. As a junior, Chavez finished third in both the 50 and 100 free.
