Jeff Wilson is a Southern Illinois native and an SIU alumnus. He was named interim senior associate athletics director for external affairs on August 1, 2025, and received the permanent position on August 15, 2026.

Before coming to Saluki Athletics, he spent eight years enhancing the marketing of the SIU Foundation, helping introduce the SIU Day of Giving, develop the Foundation's television broadcast, "The Impact Report," and establish the Saluki Takeover Tour events across the country. Before his time at the Foundation, Jeff spent three years working in University Communications and Marketing at SIU, focusing on student email communications and social media.

From 2006 to 2014, Jeff worked at The Southern Illinoisan newspaper in Carbondale, starting as a sports scorekeeper and working his way to copy editor and eventually news editor.

A native of Ava, Illinois, Jeff graduated in 2001 from Trico High School in Campbell Hill. He earned his associate degree from John A. Logan College in 2003 and his bachelor's degree in journalism from SIU in 2006. He and his wife, Jill, live in Murphysboro with their two children, Jacey and Jacob. Jill is a nurse practitioner at SIU's Student Health Services.
