
Aaron Cook, Marcus Bartley named to MVC All-Academic Team

The Missouri Valley Conference announced its men's basketball All-Academic team on Thursday and Southern Illinois guards Aaron Cook and Marcus Bartley were both named to the second team.
Cook is a sophomore at SIU with a 3.44 GPA and is majoring in exercise science. He has started 30 of 31 games and is fourth in the team in scoring at 9.9 points per game. He is shooting .443 from the field and .39 from 3-point and is second on the team in assists (78) and steals (45). Cook has scored double figures 17 times, including a career-high 25 points versus Indiana State. He made game-winning free throws with 4.1 seconds left in the OT win verus Missouri State.
Bartley is a junior at Southern with a 4.00 GPA and is majoring in sport administration. He has played in 24 games with 20 starts and was also named CoSIDA Academic All-District. Bartley averages 6.7 points and 3.6 assists. He leads the team in 3-point shooting percentage (.398) and went 8-of-11 from 3-point range in two games against Northern Iowa.
The last Saluki to make the Scholar-Athlete team was Anthony Beane, who took home first team honors in 2014.
