Women's Basketball End of the Year Banquet set for April 8

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's basketball team will hold its end of the year banquet on Sunday, April 8 in the East Lobby of the SIU Arena.

The doors open at 12:45 p.m. followed by a luncheon and a program that includes the presentation of postseason awards and reflections on the memorable season from fifth-year SIU head coach Cindy Stein.

The Salukis finished the season with a 17-14 overall record, an 11-7 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play and advanced to the MVC Tournament Semifinals for the second time in three seasons. Southern placed two on the All-MVC First Team, Kylie Giebelhausen and Nicole Martin, and had two first-years, Abby Brockmeyer and Makenzie Silvey, selected to the MVC All-Freshmen Team. Brockmeyer was also named the MVC Freshman of the Year after a season in which the Raymond, Ill. native led all Valley freshmen in rebounds (7.1/game), blocks (1.28/game), offensive rebounds (2.5/game) and defensive rebounds (4.6/game) per game and finished third amongin scoring (10.1)

Tickets are on sale now and are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 years of age and under.
