Salukis beat Cougars 2-1; Game called in 5th due to rain

Carbondale, Ill. ... Southern Illinois scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning vs. sister school SIUE and then saw the game called due to rain after the Cougars were shutout in the top of the fifth inning. A single by 3B Jay Burch and and infield ground out by SS Terry Jones delivered the Salukis' two runs. Todd Miller drove in the Cougars' only run in the second inning with a single. Todd Neibel (Waltonville, Il.) was the winning pitcher for the Salukis. He is 2-0. SIU is 14-7.
