SIU Softball Ranked Fourth in the Nation Academically

Columbia, Mo. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced today the NFCA All-Academic teams, based on cumulative grade-point averages submitted by NFCA member head coaches for the 2000-01 academic year.
Included in that list was Southern Illinois University who tied for fourth in the country among NCAA Division I schools. The Salukis, who compiled a 3.39 GPA on the year, tied both Detroit Mercy and Tennessee State for their fourth place ranking.
This year's rankings consist of the top 10 academic performers in each of the six membership categories (NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, junior college and high school). Following is the 2000-01 NCAA Division I rankings:
