Salukis Win Third Straight By Beating Oral Roberts, 4-2

Natchitoches, La. - outhern Illinois University Carbondale (3-4) scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure a 4-2 victory over Oral Roberts University (3-2) on Friday, February 23, Brown-Stroud Field. The win is the third straight for the Salukis after an 0-4 start.
Roman Schooley doubled to start the bottom of the eighth and pinch runner John Clem scored the winning run on a bunt single by Ryan Murray. Sal Frisella singled and then scored later on an error to provide the to provide the final margin for the Salukis.
Josh Latimer (2-0) had another strong outing for SIU, throwing six and one third innings of six-hit, two-run baseball. Latimer struck out two and walked two to win his second straight start. Jerel Deitering pitched an inning and two thirds of relief, before Scott Lucht (1-0) pitched the ninth for his first save of the year.
The Salukis were led by Scott Hankey (2-for-4, 2-RBIs) and Sal Frisella (3-for-4, run scored).
SIU will play host Northwestern State University on Saturday, February 24, at 3:30 p.m, and Centenary College on Sunday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m.
