CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - Jermaine Dearman scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds Wednesday night in leading Southern Illinois to a 68-65 victory over Southwest Missouri State.
Dearman sank 7-of-14 field goal attempts and shot 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Kent Williams added 18 points for the Salukis (12-10, 6-5 Missouri Valley), who only made 38 percent of their field goal attempts.
Dana Novak led Southwest Missouri's Bears (9-12, 5-7) with 21 points, going 4-for-4 from 3-point range and sinking 7-of-9 shots at the free-throw line. Matt Rueter added 13 points.
The Bears completed only 37 percent of their field goal attempts, despite shooting 55 percent from the floor in the second half.
Southern Illinois led 35-25 at the half, but was outscored 40-33 by Southwest Missouri in the second half.
The Salukis outrebounded Southwest Missouri 42-28.
