Saluki Track Post Strong Showing at Indiana Invitational

The 27th Indiana Invitational was unscored, but the Southern Illinois University Carbondale men's and women's track teams still made a strong showing at the annual event.
SIU came very close to winning three events on the women's side, with Caryn Poliquin (44-3 1/4 - shot put), Noa Beitler (2:12.89 - 800 meters), and Marina Shafran (5-6 1/2 - high jump) each finished second. In addition, Poliquin (5th, 55-11 - weight throw), Julia Roundtree (5th, 1:37.73 - 600 meters), Becky Cox (5th, 5:12.76 - mile), Latrice Gray (5th, 5-4 1/2 - high jump), Rimma Turevsky (5th, 37-11 1/2 - triple jump), and Shafran (7th, 37-6 1/2 - triple jump) all made the finals and placed well for the Salukis.
On the men's side, Adam Judge (59-0 1/4 - weight throw), Joe Hill (6-8 1/4 - high jump), and Ryan Hauser (4:19.54 - mile) each finished in third place. David Readle (5th, 51-10 1/2 - shot put), Kevin Mills (7th, 7.07 - 60 meters), Greg Denagall (7th, 44-9 1/2 - triple jump), and Rob Firrell (8th, 48-2 1/2 - shot put & 10th, 50-0 1/2 - weight throw) each made the finals of their respective events.
The Salukis next meet will be at the Iowa State Invitational on February 9-10, in Ames, Iowa.
