CARBONDALE, Ill. -- - Southern Illinois University men's basketball coach Bruce Weber announced that 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward Randal Falker signed a letter of intent Thursday to play for the Salukis next season.
He became SIU's third signee this fall, and all three players hail from Missouri. Falkar joins guard Jamaal Tatum and forward Jamaal Foster to complete SIU's fall signing class. Weber has one scholarship available, and said he plans to use it in the spring signing period.
Falker was a Class 4A Second Team All-State pick by the Missouri Sports Writers and Broadcasters Association last season at Gateway Tech High School in St. Louis. He averaged 15.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 5.6 blocks per game and helped lead his team to a 22-4 record.
"Randal has an explosive vertical jump, great instincts for rebounding and excellent timing as a shot blocker," Weber said. "He is still developing his offensive game and holds great promise as a front court player."
Falker, who was recruited by Nebraska, Butler and Western Michigan, was a teammate of Tatum on the St. Louis Eagles AAU team last summer.
