Softball's Harre Named MVC Pitcher of the Week

Carbondale, Ill. - Freshman Amy Harre was named this week's Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced today by the league office. The local Nashville, Ill., product helped lead the Salukis to a tournament championship at the Mississippi State Bulldog Classic (Feb. 15-17).

Harre made a solid collegiate debut on the mound for SIU this past weekend as the Salukis opened their 2002 campaign with a 4-1 record. Named the tournament's MVP, she went 2-0 without allowing an earned run.

In 16.1 innings pitched, Harre was touched for just five hits en route to posting a pair of shutouts. In addition, she earned one save and struck out 13 batters, including the game's final hitter with two out and the tying run on second in a 1-0 win over Colorado State (2/17).
