CARBONDALE, Ill. - Junior guard David McGlown will transfer to another school, Southern Illinois men's basketball coach Bruce Weber announced Wednesday.
McGlown, who transferred to SIU from Schoolcraft College (Mich.) a year ago, played sparingly for the Salukis last season, appearing in 12 games and averaging 1.4 ppg.
Weber said McGlown consulted him before reaching his decision to transfer, and both coach and player agreed it was the right move.
"David wants to play, and his chances of doing so are much better elsewhere ," Weber said. "I really appreciate his effort last season, and I will do whatever I can to help him find a school where he'll have a better chance to play."
The Salukis now have two scholarships available and will attempt to fill the slots with a front court player and a point guard, Weber said.
