Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois (4-6, 0-2) will look to snap a three-game losing skid Saturday, when it visits the University of Evansville (8-3, 2-0). Tip off is set for 5 p.m., at Roberts Stadium.
SIU leads the all-time series 14-10 over UE, however, the Aces have won eight of the last nine meetings between the two teams.
The Salukis, who have fallen in four of their last five games, are coming off a pair of home losses to SMS (69-56) and Wichita State (90-65). Senior guard Molly McDowell leads SIU in scoring with 10.8 points per game, but has been held scoreless in each of the last two contests. McDowell, who has been battling injury as of late, missed her first start of the season against the Shockers, but is expected to return to the starting lineup this weekend.
Meanwhile, Evansville wraps up a season-long six-game homestand when it hosts SIU. UE is 5-0 on the homestand and in the midst of a six-game winning streak overall. The Aces have also won nine straight games at Roberts Stadium dating back to last season.
Junior forward Jamie Gray, who garnered MVC Player of the Week honors on three occasions this season, leads all UE scorers with an impressive 17.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. She is followed by senior forward Jenna Hayes (12.5 ppg) and sophomore guard Alissa Kirby (10.3 ppg) who also average double figures.
