David Carney Awarded a Men's Basketball Scholarship

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois men's basketball coach Bruce Weber announced Monday that senior guard David Carney was awarded a scholarship for the spring semester.

Carney, who has played in seven games this season and scored two points, is a fourth-year walk-on from Tell City, Ind.

?David has earned a scholarship through his leadership and hard work,? Weber said. ?I want to reward kids who have been loyal to our program, and I only wish I could have done it in previous years, but couldn't make it work with our scholarship situation until now.?

Carney will graduate with a degree in landscape architecture, and his scholarship will be available for use in the spring signing period, Weber said.
