Noa Beitler Named Prairie Farms/MVC Scholar-Athlete

Carbondale, Ill. - SIU women's track athlete Noa Beitler has been selected as the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference scholar-athlete for the weeks of February 24-March 2 and March 3-10.
The junior from Rehovot, Israel, received MVP honors at the 2003 MVC Indoor Championships on Feb. 28-March 1 at Illinois State. Beitler placed first in three events to help SIU women to a second place team finish. She took first in the 800m (2:10.91), mile (4:54.18), and was part of the winning 4x400m relay (3:46.51).
Beitler shaved 8.34 seconds off her previous best in the mile at Iowa State's NCAA Qualifier meet March 8. Her time of 4:45.20 was a school record, an MVC all-time best, and a NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Beitler holds a 3.85 cumulative grade-point average in industrial design.
