Well, here we are again. One year removed from our great postseason run of last year. Anticipation for the weekend and for what is to come is running throughout each one of the players. Myself, I couldn't sleep Thursday night. I stayed up until 3:30 in the morning talking to a friend to try and ease my anticipation for the weekend. I finally fell asleep and awoke to a beautiful crisp day in Carbondale. I finished the rest of my packing and headed off to the SIU ARENA. All that was left to do was to throw my luggage on the bus and get on board. Everyone was in good spirits. There was a lot of joking and laughing taking place. Once the bus started rolling, the managers passed out breakfast sandwiches from Burger King. The sandwiches hit the spot. Soon after that we popped in a movie to watch to pass the time. Some members of the team opted to sleep while the rest of us watched Pulp Fiction. It was a nice smooth ride. There was a little traffic backup when we reached the bridge but it didn't last all that long. When we reached the hotel everyone's keys were waiting for them except BK's and mine. For some reason they cancelled our room. But we got things straightened out. It shouldn't affect his games or my warm-ups. We had approximately an hour before our shoot around time at the Savvis Center. The Valley only allows 30 minutes for shoot around, so we did a lot of motion shooting and running up and down the court to get loose and used to the shooting background. Everything went really quick and sharp. After the shoot around we boarded the bus and headed to Dave and Busters' Restaurant. It is a restaurant slash arcade. We ate our meals and then proceeded to the back of the building to play games in the arcade. It was a great way to pass time. To finish off the night we had a scouting report meeting at 9:00 p.m. We watched game footage of our Monday night game against Illinois State. The coaches went over players' tendencies and what they might do within their offense and defense. After finishing off our scouting report, coach gave us a little pep talk about the weekend and what we should accomplish. We then dismissed to our rooms for some shut eye. With the game being at noon on Saturday, each team member wanted to make sure we were well rested and ready to go. After all we have to get up at 8 a.m... I can't tell you what the rest of the players' did once in their rooms, but Brad K. and I watched a little Sportscenter to fall asleep to. Well goodnight.
P.S. Get ready fans, we hope to take you on another amazing ride throughout the postseason.
