WSU Head Coach Gene Stephenson
On game: "That was a tremendously pitched game from our side. (Jereme) Foster, much like all of our freshman pitchers this year when we've called on them, did a great job under pressure. (Tommy) Hottovy was outstanding, and our defense was good all around. Foster was spent after six innings, so we made the decision to bring in Hottovy."
Starting/Winning Pitcher Jereme Foster
On game: "I knew I'd have to keep them from scoring runs. My arm felt good, and my fastball, curve and change-up were working. They were chasing the fastball, so I was able to get ahead."
Catcher Cody Clark
On Jereme Foster: "When we were warming up in the bullpen, I knew it was the best stuff he's ever had. He kept his slider down in the dirt, and they kept chasing them. We have a lot of confidence in our pitchers. He really stepped up today."
SIU Head Coach Dan Callahan
On game: "That was a good college baseball game. I was a little disappointed in our pitch selection offensively. Granted with two strikes you've got to be a little defensive, but we were swinging at pitches in the dirt. (Jereme) Foster and (Tommy) Hottovy were better than us in that game."
Catcher Toby Barnett
On Jereme Foster: "We may have been a bit too anxious against him. He was getting ahead in the count, and we were very anxious after he got ahead."
