CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - Southern Illinois used a barrage of 3-point shots to beat Wichita State 73-64 Sunday in a Missouri Valley Conference game that otherwise was evenly matched.
The Salukis were 10-21 from long distance, led by Bryan Turner's 4-6 shooting from behind the 3-point line. The Shockers were 3-13 in 3-point attempts.
Southern Illinois (10-2, 4-0 MVC) spread the ball around, getting double-digit scoring from five players. Brad Korn was the team's top scorer with 14 points.
Wichita State (9-5, 2-2 MVC) shot 49 percent - just behind Southern's 51-percent shooting. The Salukis outrebounded Wichita State 32-28, while the Shockers hit 11 of 17 free throws and Southern was 5-10 from the foul line.
Wichita State's Jamar Howard led all scorers with 19 points, and Rob Kampman scored 13.
