CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois (0-3) returns to Carbondale for the start of a three-game homestand starting Sunday when Tennessee Tech (2-1) visits SIU Arena. Tip off is at 2:05 p.m.
The Salukis are coming off three straight losses on the road after losing to Iowa (66-50), Northern Illinois (61-43) and Wisconsin (82-53) last week. Also, SIU has dropped its last 12 games since Jan. 31, 2004.
First-year head coach Dana Eikenberg takes to the sidelines for her first home game at the Saluki helm. Averaging just 48.7 points per game as a team, SIU looks to regroup with the help of seniors Danette Jones (15.3 ppg) and Daphney Desamours (13.3 ppg), who have combined for 86 of the team's 146 points this season.
Also, the Salukis will look to bounce back from a 51-17 drubbing on the boards at Wisconsin on Nov. 22.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eaglettes go after their third win in a row after beating Florida Atlantic and Alabama-Birmingham last week. TTU is led by Emily Christian who is averaging over 20 points a game. Kendall Cavin and Kristina Tyler are also playing strong as each are coming off 18-point outings against the Blazers.
SIU trails its overall series to TTU by a count of 10-7. The Salukis have also suffered losses in six of their last seven outings against the Golden Eaglettes.
Sunday's game will be broadcast live on WDDD 810 AM. The audio broadcast can also be heard live via the world wide web at www.siusalukis.com.
