ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois forward LaMar Owen was named the Missouri Valley Conference player-of-the-week, the league office announced Monday.

Owen, a senior from Owensboro, Ky., helped lead SIU to wins over Tennessee State, Vanderbilt and UTEP last week as the Salukis won the Las Vegas Invitational.

Owen averaged 13.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg and shot 56 percent from the floor, making 19 of 34 shots. He was named to the all-tournament team. In SIU's win over Vanderbilt, Owen led the team with a career-high 21 points. He also added 10 boards.
