McDaniel, Moreland, Coffin Pick Up All-America Honors

Southern Illinois University lineman Elmer McDaniel, safety Alexis Moreland and kicker Craig Coffin picked up All-American honors Wednesday from the Associated Press.
McDaniel was named First-Team, while Moreland and Coffin earned Second-Team honors. McDaniel was also named First-Team by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
McDaniel, a senior center, started all 12 games this season and 23 in a row for the Salukis. He led the team with 26 "bonus blocks" and had an overall effort grade of 98 percent. The Saluki offense ranked #1 in the conference and #2 in the nation in total offense and scoring offense. The Muskogee, Okla. native was named Gateway Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week against Western Kentucky on Oct. 16.
Moreland, a second-team pick, started all 12 games and made 43 career starts, the most on the team. He led the team with four interceptions and ranked fourth on the team in tackles. The Sarasota, Fla. native was also a dynamic special teams player with two blocked punts and one blocked PAT. The Saluki defense ranks #1 in the nation and the Gateway in scoring defense. Moreland earned All-American honors for the third year in a row.
Coffin led the conference in scoring with 114 points. He was perfect on PATs with 66-for-66 and has made 74-straight PATs, six shy of the school record. On field goal attempts, Coffin was 13-of-15 (86.7 percent).
