CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University freshman guard Ryan Walker will not play in tonight's game at Evansville because of soreness in his left knee.
Walker, who has played in 14 games this season and averages 1.3 ppg, is in North Carolina where he is receiving a doctor's second opinion on whether the knee needs surgery. He has already had one surgery on the knee while playing at Mecklenburg County High School (N.C.).
Though not in the regular, nine-man, playing rotation, Walker has provided occasional minutes off the bench, including 10 minutes last week in the Salukis' win against Drake.
Saluki head coach Matt Painter said the knee has been bothering Walker through much of the season.
