Talk about the SMS game and your collision with Tamar Maclin.
"I don't really know what to say. We hung in there, but they just played harder
than us and out-fought us. It (the concussion) was a clean hit and part of the
game."
Are you fully recovered and what do you expect for the rest of the season?
"Yes, and I expect to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament and finish out a
good year."
What has been the highlight of your senior season?
"It's been everything. Being around these guys and getting the national
attention we've earned. Winning the conference at 17-1. This season has all
been highlights, nothing more than anything else."
Describe the effort it took to go from being a reserve to becoming a
starter and what it means to you.
"It was just perseverance, hard work, and a positive attitude. I really don't
think I've overly improved from last season to this. It's just being able to
get a chance to play through my mistakes and just getting the opportunity to
play."
What has been your biggest improvement during your Saluki career and this
season?
"Probably just learning the game, getting my strength and being able to know
what's going on during the game."
Has being a senior and a leader meant anything special to you in itself?
"Yeah, it's my last year and knowing that I could say I've played on a
championship team my last year and being able to play with these guys is
special."
What do you about the three straight sellouts at SIU Arena to finish your home career?
"Everybody loves a winner, and people aren't going to come out to watch a team
that loses. As long as we keep winning people keep on coming. We always have
our loyal fans, but it's nice to have the
Arena full."
Have you felt like a celebrity around the community just by being a player on a
successful basketball team?
"A little bit. There's instances here and there where people recognize you and
want to say hi to you and shake your hand."
What made you decide to come to SIU?
"SIU was my second choice. ISU (Illinois State) took my scholarship away. I was
originally going there, but then I called here and said I was coming."
What do you plan on doing after graduating?
"Getting a job in pharmaceutical sales and seeing what happens there."
How would you want the people who have followed SIU basketball to remember you?
"Just a guy who played hard, did things right in the community, and took care of
work on and off the court."
