Dates announced for Softball Winter Camps

The Southern Illinois University softball coaching staff has announced its winter camps for 2007. Opportunities are available for players of all skill levels and ages.
All participants will receive a SIU Softball poster and will have an autograph session with the SIU softball players. All campers also receive a camp t-shirt. Three different camps are offered this year:
Pitching Camp
Grades: 2nd thru 12th
Dates: Friday-Saturday, Jan. 12-13, 2007
Times: Friday Session - 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Saturday Session - 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Cost: $60
• Camp will be held at the SIU Rec Center
• Camp offers drill work for beginners, intermediate and advanced players
• Also offers drilled for increasing control, speed and for corrections of common problems
Youth Camp
Grades: 1st thru 5th grades
Date: Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007
Time: TBA
Cost: $35
• Camp will be held at Davies Gym
• The camp's primary emphasis is on the fundamentals of hitting and defense
Hitting Camp
Grades: 5th thru 12th
Dates: Friday-Saturday, Jan. 19-20, 2007
Times: Friday Session - 6-8 p.m.; Saturday Session - 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Cost: $60
• Camp will be held at Davies Gym
• Offers both group and individual instruction
• Will consist of cage work, Ts and drills, drills and more drills
• Instruction of stance and swing will be conducted by SIU players and coaching staff
